The First Day Of My Life

First Picture of Asmrit

I am Amrit Dangol. I am writing this blog on behalf of my son, Asmrit Dangol (अस्मृत डंगोल), in the hopes that someday he will be able to read and write and then continue this blog on his own.

I was sleeping in the daytime as I usually do because I work as a blogger at night and sleep in daytime mostly and my wife came to wake me up saying her stomach is bothering her too much. I thought, it was her cramps like before, but then again our baby's birth date has passed the due date so I was little worried. Yet I was on my bed just resting for a while. My mom and dad were out at one of my cousin sister's house. Soon they returned and my wife's pain become more and more severe. She was having contractions so we soon noticed and called my sister to come and assist us in taking her to the hospital as she knew a lot about hospital matters. It was around 1-2PM that we had our regular lunch and my dad brought her some pork meat which she was desiring to have for a long time.

When my sister arrived, my wife was in severe contractions, so we hurriedly took her to the hospital in a taxi. She had to walk a few meters in order to reach to the point where we could get into the taxi. I had very hard time getting a taxi as no taxi would stop. Finally I stopped one and the driver agreed to go to the hospital.

By 4:15PM we were inside the hospital and then it was waiting time. She was in the emergency ward. I didn't like the hospital policy and services. There was no vacant beds so they keep on hold in the emergency department. All they said was there is no bed available. After intensive waiting and with her in pain, we had nothing to do but to pray everything would go well.
At 7PM they finally took her to the delivery room as the baby was about to come out. When my wife came out of the emergency room she just called me asking me to follow her to the delivery room. We did so till the doors of the delivery room. No visitors were allowed to enter (NOT EVEN LADIES). I really disliked this policy of the hospital but we could do nothing but to wait outside. We just waited and waited. My sister had then gone to her house to get some warm clothes for the baby and the mother. We had few clothes. At around 8:15PM or so the nurse came outside asking for some clothes but we had nothing but some clothes of my wife. We sent that in and I contacted my sister to come soon to the hospital. She took some time so my dad and I decided to get some clothes outside the hospital where there were some shops selling baby's clothes. We bought a blanket and a pair or baby dress. We took it to the delivery room. There a lot of request for the sutures and medicines was made so me and my dad was busy going out to the medicine shop and getting the required medicines.

We knew nothing about the condition of the baby or the mom. We didn't know if it was a boy or a girl till that time. I was just hoping that both of them would be fine. It was 9PM by then and it was getting out time. No men were allowed in the hospital premises after 9PM. So we stayed outside unaware of anything inside. It was again waiting time and we all were tired of waiting. It was until 11:30 that we saw the mom and the baby. The nurse was rushing them to the hospital ward. The delivery was a successful one. It was a normal delivery and both were fine. We have a baby boy. I, my dad, and my nephew, could only see it baby and couldn't touch any of them as they were behind the door which was locked. My wife smsed me saying, "Congrats u got asmrit.Hamro love success vayo." We had to wait for the next day. Then all of us went to our house leaving the baby, my wife, my sister, and my niece in the hospital. We had our dinner after 12AM. My mom was too excited and wanted to have dinner whatever time it was to celebrate.
